Despite the first person personal use of we on this site, Red Clover Design, is just one person: Rick Scully.

I first got interested in the web in the early 1990s when I realized what a great tool the Internet could be to small organizations and nonprofits. With the cost of advertising, marketing, and postage, small organizations had a hard time reaching their target audiences. I believed — and still do — that the Internet would help level the playing field by facilitating the sharing of information between an organization and its members, clients, or customers.

I have a degree in English Literature from the University of Maryland, and a background in public relations and communications. Before moving to Vermont and starting Red Clover Design, I managed multiple sites and web projects for the prestigious Urban Institute, to whom I am grateful for putting so much trust in me, when the web was new, and I was winging it.

My wife Sarah, our lovable Pit-bull mix (Leo), our small flock of sheep — Navajo-Churro, Shetland & Finn — and two llamas all live on a small family farm in Tunbridge, Vermont. My very cool (seriously) mother-in-law lives in the flat above the garage. Sometimes it feels like a very small commune! Collectively we channel that energy into another website, Gage Hill Crafts.
